Announcements March 5, 2020

Dual-Enrollment Information Session
Any current junior who is interested in taking dual-enrollment classes this fall should plan to attend a dual-enrollment information session on Tuesday, March 10 at 10:30 a.m. We will discuss eligibility requirements, the registration process, class expectations and more. Parents are also welcome to join this session.

Students who are already participating in dual-enrollment and wish to continue in the fall are not required to attend.

Leadership Conference
All MMC students will participate in the “Living, Learning and Leading” conference on Wednesday, March 11. NO classes will be held on our Airport campus, and all students will instead travel to the Midlands Tech Harbison Campus. The conference will begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. Free lunch will be provided.

Refer to this MTC Harbison Campus Map for directions. Students may park or be dropped off in the large parking lot at the front of campus, then go into the theater building to register. All students should arrive at the Harbison campus by 9:00 a.m. Students who submitted permission forms for transportation to and from MMC should arrive at our campus by 8:15.

Senior Pictures
Vickie Lovett with Pretty Pictures Photography will be on campus Tuesday, March 10, from 1:00 to 5:00 to take “cap & gown” portraits of ALL our seniors. You will have the option to purchase photos, but are not required to do so. We want a great photo of everyone to include in the yearbook, so please come looking your best that day!

3rd Quarter Government – 4th Quarter Economics
When the 3rd quarter grading period ends March 11, our half-credit Government classes will be finished. Students have been reminded they are allowed only three unexcused absences in that class (as opposed to the five absences allowed in a typical semester class). All makeup work and recovery time for Government must be completed by March 11. The 4th quarter Economics classes will begin on March 16.

Prom – Parent Volunteers Needed
Our Enchanted Forest Prom is shaping up to be a beautiful evening for our students and their guests. We could use help from several parents to make this event a success – you could donate time, money, food, or decorations. Click the volunteer form and indicate how you can help! Contact Mrs. Laurie Lee if you have any questions.

Also, remember the deadline to purchase prom tickets is March 20!

Student Teachers at MMC
This semester, we are pleased to have two students from Western Governors University gaining teaching experience in our classrooms:

Emma Dailey is pursuing her Bachelor’s in Special Education and Elementary Education. Her supervising teacher at MMC is Mrs. Laurie Lee.

Rachel Farrell is pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching, English Education (Secondary). Her supervising teacher at MMC is Mr. Cameron Oswald.

Please help us make these two ladies feel welcome at MMC!

Baby Whatley
Our school counselor Jeff Whatley and his wife Katy recently welcomed their first child! Jackson Whatley was born February 20. Mom, Dad, and baby are all doing well. Mr. Whatley returns to his counselor duties here at MMC on March 6.
