Virtual Learning for all Students January 4-8

Due to the current situation with COVID-19 and the expected surge in cases, MMC will have a week of fully-virtual learning for all students and staff. This will allow time for any travel-related cases to be identified and prevent them from being further spread at school. We continue to ask that if you have tested positive or been in close contact with anyone who is positive, please notify us immediately.

What does this learning model shift mean for you? It depends which learning model you originally chose for the fall semester:

Hybrid Cohort A (Monday/Wednesday)
You will now shift to the “hybrid-at-home” model we practiced just before Thanksgiving. On Monday and Wednesday, you will login at your regular class time to each of your teachers’ Google Meet. These links will be posted in Google Classroom. If you are not sure how to access this, email your teacher to find out! During this session, you will be able to interact with other students and your teacher will explain the expectations for the day. Attendance will be taken each block!

On Tuesday and Thursday, you will have regular E-Learning assignments to complete, the same as before. On Friday, you may schedule individual help from any teacher by reaching out via email. There will be no attendance recovery on Friday.

Hybrid Cohort B (Tuesday/Thursday)
You will now shift to the “hybrid-at-home” model we practiced just before Thanksgiving. On Tuesday and Thursday, you will login at your regular class time to each of your teachers’ Google Meet. These links will be posted in Google Classroom. If you are not sure how to access this, email your teacher to find out! During this session, you will be able to interact with other students and your teacher will explain the expectations for the day. Attendance will be taken each block!

Every Day Students
You will now shift to the “hybrid-at-home” model we practiced just before Thanksgiving. You will follow the exact same schedule as before, but instead of physically going to each of your classes, you will login at your regular class time to each of your teachers’ Google Meet. These links will be posted in Google Classroom. If you are not sure how to access this, email your teacher to find out! During this session, you will be able to interact with other students and your teacher will explain the expectations for the day. Attendance will be taken each block!

For your Facilitated Learning classes, you will need to do a quick check-in with Mrs. Goldin or Mrs. Knight – see the link in your Google Classroom. You can use the remainder of that time to work on your E-Learning assignments for other classes. On Friday, you may schedule individual help from any teacher by reaching out via email. There will be no attendance recovery on Friday.

Fully Virtual Students
Your Fall classes should have ended before the break. Continue to work on any year-long classes.

Be sure to meet with Mrs. Goldin sometime this week to confirm which classes you will be taking in the spring. Registration opens January 13 and you want to be ready to sign up so you get into the classes you want! Spring classes will start February 3.

Dual Enrollment Students
Mr. Whatley will be holding virtual meetings to help new dual-enrollment students set up your MyMTC account and learn how to navigate your courses. Look for an email from him with times and the link to attend!
College classes through Midlands Tech begin January 11.

Everyone
Our counselors will both be available to hold IGP meetings virtually. Mrs. Epps will send you a link to attend. They are both also available for any individual counseling meetings – please email Mrs. Epps or Mr. Whatley if you need to set up a virtual meeting or phone call.

We anticipate this shift in our learning model will be for this one week only, and we will return to our regular operations on Monday, January 11. We appreciate your flexibility as we work to maintain a safe learning environment.
