October 16 Announcements

Good evening MMC families!

I cannot believe we are halfway through the first semester!!  Our first nine weeks ended last Thursday.  Grades were submitted Friday and are posted in PowerSchool for the first nine weeks.  Report cards will be mailed out this week.  From this point forward, you will be watching the grades in the second quarter column.  If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s grades, reach out to the respective teacher.

Parent Conferences last week were a success!  Thank you to all of the parents who came in to meet with us.  Our students are much more successful when we all work together as a team.  If you did not have a meeting scheduled and would like to, please reach out to me and we will get one scheduled.

Seat Time Recovery

Our next seat time recovery opportunity will be this Saturday the 22nd from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm.  We will be at the school for this session.  Students will spend this time working on missed work, credit recovery courses, or their VirtualSC courses (if taking one).  Students will be expected to be actively engaged during this time.  Students who have earned an FA in either Government or Economics for the 1st nine weeks, MUST attend to earn the seat time to recoup that credit.

Senior Pictures

Students who have signed up for pictures this Tuesday need to be sure you are aware of your time.  Please be on time for your appointment.  There are a couple of spots which have opened up for Tuesday.  If you are interested in taking the spots, please contact me for details.  Be on the lookout for more dates to be scheduled.

As a reminder, Seniors signing up for pictures will be excused from class for one hour on the day they signed up.  This covers the 30 minute picture session and 30 minutes for the round trip travel time to and from school.

Dual Enrollment

Our dual enrollment advisement days are quickly approaching.  MTC will be in the building Oct. 25th and 26th.  Advisors will meet individually with students to plan for and register for spring semester.  If you are interested in taking dual enrollment courses in the spring, please see Mrs. Wilson as soon as possible.  Students currently taking courses will also need to register for the spring on these days.

Jostens

Jostens will be on campus next Monday the 24th.  They will meet with all Juniors at 1:30 pm to give information about ordering class rings. Seniors will meet at 2:00 pm to discuss ordering graduation supplies/caps and gowns.  It is important ALL students are present for these meetings.

ASVAB

All MMC students will take the ASVAB on November 1st.  MMC administers this assessment for the valuable vocational information it provides students.  No student will be required to meet with or share their information with any recruiter.  However, if your student is interested in pursuing the military, we will be glad to connect them to a recruiter.

College Tours

Mrs. Wilson has scheduled two college visits.  U of SC Aiken will be Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022 and SC State on Friday, Nov. 11.  Details on the USC Aiken can be found below.
